As our societal awareness of diverse sexual orientation and gender identities increases, many of us find ourselves without familiar bearings and stumbling over language. Our children and teens are increasingly using terms and sharing labels not even our Merriam-Webster can keep up with..... LGBTIQQAMPO??? This presentation will begin to make sense of the "alphabet soup" and help us understand the unique challenges and ways to support some of our most vulnerable community members.

About the Speaker
Sarah Burgamy, Psy.D. is the founder of a private practice in Denver, Colorado, PhoenixRISE, with specialty offerings in identity development (considering intersections of target and non-target status identities), sexual minority competency as well as transgender and gender diverse issues with adults, adolescents and children. She is also the integrated psychologist in the TRUE Center for Gender Diversity at Children’s Hospital Colorado. After receiving her degree from the University of Denver, Graduate School of Professional Psychology, in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on child and adolescent development, Dr. Burgamy instructed courses as an adjunct assistant professor at DU in the Psy.D. program and the International Disaster Psychology Master’s program focused on arenas of development and culture, LGBTIQQ+ cultural competency, and cross cultural analysis.
