Peer Support for Life’s Most Difficult Moments with Eduardo Vega
Growing Through (GT) training experiences provide participants with the skills and confidence to be effective “Growth Allies” when times are tough, or any time. Its “practices” are keyed to supporting others in times of intensity when distress, and concerns of violence or suicide are present, including skills effectively sharing one’s own journey.
Offering Presence (OP) answers the question, “How can we authentically bring our full selves to someone experiencing struggle or intensity?” It develops practices for positive listening, and a structured approach for “Offering” personal experience. Through real play and role play scenarios grounded in the Growing Through values and practices, participants learn to identify and reframe unhelpful terminology, develop positive listening skills and be authentically, helpfully present even in the most intense of moments.
This FREE communications training is for social service professionals, outreach, peer specialists, crisis counselors, college students, faculty, and the general public. Anyone 18 and older who wants to show up better in their relationships will benefit. Lunch will be provided.
