Peer Support Group
About
If you are a man feeling like you are stuck in a rut, struggling to find joy in life, struggling to achieve a healthy work life balance, struggling to have successful healthy relationships and wanting to navigate the stresses of daily life better, this group is for you. This is a fun, casual environment where we can talk openly and without judgment as anyone in our group is most likely experiencing similar thoughts or feelings. Being a strong man has nothing to do with your bench press, it is being able to speak openly about what you are feeling and having the ability to be vulnerable. This is one of the hardest things a man can do. We're gonna talk about some manly stuff though!
Stuck in a Rut! will meet in various locations throughout the valley and is open to men of all ages, races and sexual orientation. We will discuss many different topics and work through solutions together. It is a place you can come to talk, share experiences or just sit and listen. Maybe you just need an excuse to get out of the house, hang out and make new friends - we are here! Some of the topics we cover will include: stress, work/life balance, relationships, marriage/divorce, children, sexual identity, addiction, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, chronic illness, suicide/suicidal thoughts, PTSD, health and fitness.

About Joe:
I moved to the Vail Valley in 1991 from Allentown, PA at the age of 18 and filled my time with copious amounts of skiing and outdoor activities. I worked in many different industries such as construction, hospitality, food and beverage, transportation, ski rental, business brokering and finally outdoor recreation. Currently, I am the CEO of Sage Outdoor Adventures.
In 1997, I suffered an extremely traumatic river event leaving me to deal with PTSD for many years and I dealt with that in incredibly unhealthy ways. Working through those issues alone, I managed to find moments of happiness and was able to marry and raise a family. I continued to succeed in my career but never truly healed from things that happened in my childhood and from my PTSD. Like many men, I felt stuck in an endless grind of working to survive and provide. I lost sight of what is important and truly felt like I was stuck in a rut.
Years of extreme sports and hard labor left my body in ruins from various injuries and life changing surgeries. Most recently, smoke inhalation from the Glenwood Canyon fire took my voice for several years leading to the discovery of a rare blood disorder that I continue to deal with. Chronic pain and chronic illness lead to bouts of depression, anxiety and addiction. Doctor-prescribed medications created a toxic dynamic in my brain I was unable to handle and it affected me in ways that are truly difficult to explain. It left me wanting to isolate and just check out from the world. I am here to tell you, there is a way out.
I am looking to help men of all ages cope with the mental fatigue we all tend to experience from life and relationships in an environment that is extremely NON-clinical. We are a band of brothers welcoming to all. I want to help people work through issues using connection, humor and the outdoors to heal and thrive.
