The Eye of the Survivor Storytelling Retreat in Eagle, Colorado, facilitated by Sally Spencer-Thomas and Sarah Gaer on August 7th, gathered 16 participants from Eagle County, sponsored by SpeakUp ReachOut and United Suicide Survivors International. The retreat emphasized the importance of storytelling about lived experiences with suicide as beneficial for both storytellers and listeners, aiming to change cultural perceptions of suicide.

“The retreat was a positive and refreshing part of how the process of small parts join together to form the whole, even if the topic is scary. It was a refreshing, nonjudgmental space to connect with like-minded folks which has been a challenge for where I am at in my story & in our area.”
